Big M Fishery
Welcomes you! It all began in 1991 when Owner/Operator
decided to take 20 acres of what was originally a rice
field and developed four ponds to start raising catfish
as a hobby. After several years, the catfish market
continued to expand and along with the growth so did Big
M Fishery; additional ponds were created and the trout
fishing began. It was in the summer of 2004, that we
decided to expand another pond and introduce our
Catch-n-Release fishing program. This proved to be a
big hit with school groups, summer camps, scout groups
and birthday parties. The pond was originally stocked
with 500 blue gill and 250 large mouth bass. Over the
years the fish have continued to multiply and today
fishing in our catch-n-release pond has become a
guaranteed catch for the youngest of our anglers who
visit us each season. Family owned and operated we are
continually taking active rolls in making the experience
while at Big M a day filled with fun and excitement for
you and your family. Whether you're a seasoned fisherman
or lady, or trying the sport for the first time, our
fishery offers guaranteed results for kids of all ages.
Licensed by the Department of Fish and Game, our fish
farm produces farm raised channel catfish ranging in
size from up to 4 pounds. Our fish are raised in fresh
well-water ponds and are exceptionally delicate in
flavor and texture and make a perfect entree for
anyone's plate. BIG M is Primarily known for its catfish
ponds; however each fishing season we open with stocking
one of our many ponds with Rainbow trout imported from a
hatchery located near Mt. Lassen, Ca. Fishing for trout
begins the first weekend in March every year and
continues through the cooler months. As we approach May
and throughout the summer, anglers of all ages can take
part in fishing for our farm-raised catfish or trying
their luck fishing in our 5-acre Catch-n-Release Bass
and Blue Gill pond. Beginning in October, we bring the
trout fishing back to the Sacramento Valley and the
fishing continues on our farm until the last weekend in
November. The catfish ponds are stocked regularly with
catfish averaging in size to two pounds, our trout
average in size to 12 inches, while our Bass are as
large as six pounds.
All fish caught are sold "live weight" by the pound.
A
fishing license is not required, and there is no limit
to the number of fish you can catch. We rent fishing
poles, sell bait and provide fish cleaning services. A
shaded picnic area, with tables and charcoal barbeques
